I shot this beautiful Provo Engagement Session at Buffalo Peak in Provo Canyon. I loved working with Elanor + Brandt to take these cute engagement photos!
Here are some tips for prepping for your engagement session:

What to wear
Bring two outfits. I always bring a pop up changing tent (just don’t ask me how to fold it back together…it’s a struggle) so you can change your outfit mid session. I always tell my clients to bring one dressy outfit and one more casual one. You might want different vibes for your photos. Maybe a more dressy outfit is perfect for your printed save the dates, but a more casual outfit could showcase your personality more. I’ll always ask if you have a favorite outfit and how much time you want to spend in each.
Prepare to be active!
Know what you’re getting into. With most of my engagement sessions, my couples will be moving. A lot. Candid is king right now and that means giving you a prompt (stand 20 feet apart and run towards each other and give her a big hug/spin) rather than a pose (both of you looking at the camera, smiling). Of course we do both in your session, but most couples prefer candid photos that showcase more of their relationship and who they are as a couple.
Make your ring shine!
Get that ring cleaned! Most jewelers offer free engagement ring cleaning. I highly recommend getting your ring cleaned before your session so it can really shine in photos.
Location, location, location
One more bonus tip, choose a location that matters to you. For this Provo engagement session, we took pictures at Buffalo Peak. Elanor + Brandt are very outdoorsy and wanted the summer vibe, with mountains in the background. Buffalo peak fit that description perfectly! When shooting at Buffalo Peak, be sure to plan for these things. It’s super busy, so plan for traffic coming to and from your session. Parking is limited and there is quite a bit of walking that needs to be done to get to the popular spots. Also, there will be a lot of people there. Please be courteous to others and be patient, since everyone is doing the same thing there.
Here’s what Elanor had to say about our session:
“Jenni was absolutely amazing to work with!!! My fiance and I are both pretty awkward in photos and she made it so easy to smile and have fun. The pictures turned out beautiful! She also helped save me from a wasp that was trapped in between 2 layers of my skirt, so basically she’s a superhero. I will be recommending her to everyone I know.”
