As a photographer specializing in lifestyle newborn photography in Spanish Fork, I love to capture the excitement of the first few days of your baby’s life. What made this session extra fun was that this was a twin newborn session! I absolutely love photographing babies and two babies made this session twice as special.

When it comes to lifestyle newborn photography, a lot of moms have questions about when to schedule the session, what our time together will look like and what they need to do to prepare. So for this blog post I’ll be answering some of your frequently asked questions.

Lifestyle newborn photography is, photographing your new baby and family in your own home. I focus on connection and intentional posing that feels natural. I put your baby in poses and places where they would normally be (such as in your arms, on the play mat with their siblings or sleeping in their crib). Lifestyle newborn photography is not overly posed or staged. I won’t be putting your baby in a flower pot and having them wear a sunflower headdress, okay? I love photographers that do, it’s just not my vibe.

Reach out to me while you’re still pregnant, ideally in your first or second trimester! I take on a limited number of babies per month so that I can serve each of my clients better. I would hate for you to miss out on a session because you didn’t reach out soon enough. After you decide to book a lifestyle newborn session, I’ll put you on my calendar with a tentative date of 1 week after your due date. Babies don’t always come when you want them to, so I understand the need to be flexible. 1 week olds are perfect because they’re still sleepy and snuggly.

This is the great thing about lifestyle newborn photography! You don’t need to do much. I have a basket with more swaddles and blankets than you could ever need to photograph your baby. I also bring a few neutral headbands, just in case you need them! I usually have you start your baby in an outfit you love, then we will swaddle them.
Other than one outfit, give your house a quick once over to remove clutter. I’m talking shove things in closets, don’t actually clean. Less clutter helps the eye to focus more on your baby, not your house.
When I arrive at your home, you can expect our session to be 60-90 minutes, based on how sleepy your baby is. Some babies take longer to settle and that’s perfectly fine! As a mom of three myself, I know exactly how that goes!
