If you are looking for wedding photography in Utah County, I’m here to help. Utah County is known for its weddings year round, especially when the local universities are on winter break. It is an unquestionably cold time of year, but with a few adjustments can still be a lovely day! This Utah county wedding took place on a cold and rainy January day. Although it rained before and after photos were taken, the skies were clear for family portraits.
Clearly, one of the most important parts of a wedding is preparation. Weeks before the wedding, the bride and I discussed family portraits. I had a clear list of who I was taking photos of and in what order. For example, the bride let me know that her grandparents struggle in the cold. Naturally, we took pictures of her grandparents first, directly following the entire group image. As Utah County wedding photographers know, preparation is key for great images on your wedding day!
This is a common concern to have! I am always prepared with hand warmers and umbrellas. Umbrellas also make a great prop that add to the mood of the day. Additionally, our bride’s matron of honor was close at hand with a coat to throw over the bride in between shots. The groom also did an excellent job of snuggling his new bride. As for your guests, it’s important that they dress appropriately for the weather. Not all guests will be needed for every image, so it’s important that they keep warm in the downtime.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but I think winter weddings are fantastic! The venues are less crowded. The vendors are typically in a lull, so they have more time to focus on your event. You may be able to get a venue for a slow season discount. Although the weather is a bit unpredictable, don’t let that stop you from having a wedding in Utah County.
