College graduation is such an exciting time in your life! You’ve worked so hard for 4+ years and now it’s time to celebrate how far you’ve come. Here are three tips to make your college graduation session successful.
First choose where you want your session to take place. Choose some buildings that were special to you on campus. Where did you have the majority of your classes? Where did you meet your best friend? Where did you hang out with your roommates? Choose locations that are meaningful to you! For this session, we chose a building where she had a majority of her classes for her major. This was what makes your college graduation session personal + special!
Make sure you talk with your photographer prior to your session about your vision for your college graduation session. For this session, my client was interested in a few images with her in full graduation robes, cap and honors cords + a few headshots without graduation apparel. Make sure to communicate with your photographer about what you want so they can remind you throughout the session. For example, when we’d get to a new location, we would decide if this was just a cap situation? Or cap/gown/honors cords/etc.? Changing your graduation attire throughout your college graduation session can lend variety and dimension to your images.
This is a tricky one. Timing can be so important to the success of your session. On the night that we chose to shoot, there were a few other individuals doing graduation sessions as well. I would recommend scheduling your session about a month prior to your actual graduation. You don’t want to have to fight the crowds to get the shot.
