A lifestyle newborn session is my very favorite type of newborn session! A lifestyle session is a more casual session, which shows the best version of what your life is right now. I specialize in candid, prompted images. That means I’ll ask you to do something like snuggle your baby by this window VS. scripting every movement. I feel like it looks so much more natural and realistic. I also do not excessively pose the baby. Most babies don’t come to the earth in flower pots or heart bowls…so I choose not to put them there in my lifestyle newborn sessions.
Lifestyle newborn sessions usually take place in a studio or at home. There are pros and cons to both. A studio will be clean and have adorable props. Your photographer will help you choose a studio that fits the look you’re going for and choose a time when lighting is the best. This session was taken at White Space Studios in Provo. There will be an additional fee to shoot at a studio (this one was $70/hour). You will hav less flexibility in your session, since people might be coming right after you. You’ll have to bring outfits, blankets and accessories from home. Sometimes its more stressful to leave your house with a newborn. Shooting at home will mean you will have all of your outfits and blankets easily accessible, but you’ll have to clean up a bit around your house (womp, womp). You might have a nursery you want to have photographed. It’s obviously free to shoot at home and we have a bit more flexibility if baby is fussy. Neither is better or worse, it just depends on what you’re looking for in your lifestyle newborn session.
