As soon as the leaves start changing, you know it’s time for fall family photos. A Lehi family mini session might be right for you if you’ve got a small family + want a quick session for updated photos before the holidays hit. These photos were taken at Olympic park in Lehi. This park backs up to the Jordan River parkway, which is the perfect backdrop to your fall photos.
How to prepare my kids (and husband) for a mini session
Moms who are intentional about their preparation before family photos will have a much smoother session. Some things you can do to prepare your kids are:
Choose outfits that fit well + are somewhat comfortable for kids. Make sure you have everyone try on their outfit before your session. You can guarantee that they fit well and don’t have any itchy tags that will drive your kid nuts.
Bribe appropriately. I try so hard to make sure my fall photo sessions move quickly + are fun. I love to bribe kids with play. For example, I’ll say something like, “For this next shot, I’ll have you play tag with your brother, while mom and dad snuggle.” I never expect kids to stand still for more than a second or two. While candy bribes are popular, photos of kids eating are not the best. Save the candy for after the session is completed.
Make sure everyone is well-fed and happy before the session. Keep the day before your family mini session simple. Try to choose a day that isn’t already over-scheduled. Would you be happy if you went to school for 6 hours, then karate for 2, then straight to photos? Nope! And neither will your kids.
Make sure everyone knows how important family photos are for you. Husbands tend to grumble, but if they know how meaningful they are to you, they’ll go along with it.
