As a Salt Lake County newborn photographer, I am obsessed with photographing newborns. Would you believe this cutie was just 4 days old in our session? I’m sure you have a lot of questions about a lifestyle newborn session, so read on to hear some of my most frequently asked questions.

Questions for a Salt Lake Newborn Photographer

1. How old should my baby be in our photos? I always say less than 2 weeks is ideal. What we’re looking for is a sleepy baby with zero baby acne and that typically happens when they are very young.
2. How do I get my house ready for an in home newborn session? I’m completely overwhelmed as a mom anyways! As a mother of three myself, I completely understand that. It’s really hard to have a newborn + the house is the first thing to go. I want you to think of clutter (hiding it) not cleaning. If there’s anything hiding in my shots, I’ll move it when I arrive. Your house does not need to be pinterest perfect to be an amazing backdrop for your pictures.
3. What do I even wear? I haven’t been out of pajamas in days. Oh I remember those days! It’s hard to think of what to wear, but I always recommend loose and flowy. Don’t even think about wearing jeans. I want you to be comfortable and happy during our session. I’d recommend this beautiful dress or this cute matching set.
4. What if my baby is awake for our entire session? I’m somewhat of a baby whisperer and can get most babies to be sleepy (or at least blinking to appear to be sleeping). I’ve had super alert babies and very sleepy babies. All look incredible! As long as baby is happy, it will look amazing!
5. But what if my baby cries all. the. time? I got you. I bring my white noise machine and I am amazing at swaddling. I know how to get even the grumpiest babies to calm down.
