How do I get ready for my family session?

This is an excellent question and something that stops moms from booking family photos. There’s something about the process that can feel insurmountable. But that’s where I come in! As an Alpine Utah family photographer for over 3 years, I know a little somehting about family photos. Here are my top tips for young families with kids:

• Mom chooses her outfit first. I know if you FEEL amazing, your going to love your photos so much more.
• Chat with your kids about what’s going to happen. We are going to (location) to meet Miss Jenni. Show them my picture so they know who I am. Show them some of my silly videos on instagram.
• Bribe appropriately. This is where I come in! I love to bribe with play. Something like, “Hey kids! We’re going to do our best princess smiles for mom in this picture, then Dad is going to give you a piggy back ride.” or “Can you smile bigger than me? I bet you can’t!” Keep the treats for after the pictures are through.
• Make an evening of it. Go out for french fries or ice cream afterward. This gives me something to talk to the kids about “I bet you’re going to order Oreo ice cream with sprinkles after this, aren’t you?”
