As a Tibble Fork family photographer, I know how beautiful this location is in the fall. With the changing colors and the snow-capped mountains in the distance, it’s no wonder why Tibble Fork reservoir is a crowd favorite. As your Tibble Fork family photographer, there’s a few things to know about this location before you go.

Make sure you have a clear plan about how to meet your photographer. Reception can be really spotty up in American Fork canyon, so communicate these details well ahead of your session. I always text my clients an exact location to meet me and sometimes a selfie from that day so they know exactly what I look like. This location is really busy and often there are 15+ photographers here on any given evening.
Be patient. This location is one of the most popular spots in Utah County. For good reason! It’s super pretty but expect there to be others around you. This is NOT the spot for a private vow renewal or an intimate gender reveal. I promise I’ve got locations you would love for both those things, but Tibble Fork isn’t it.
The sun dips behind the mountains about 2 hours before sunset. This is great news for you if you have little kids that go to bed before 7. This means your session can be earlier than typical “golden hour”.
Know what season you’d like to have your photos taken in. Fall produces some of the most beautiful colors in the mountains. Spring can be very chilly, with snow well into March and April most years. During the winter, the reservoir often freezes over so you can actually walk on it. It’s the perfect winter wonderland. Summer has small purple and white wildflowers that I love. There’s no wrong answer when it comes to shooting at Tibble Fork!
